My anxiety can last anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes and it stops me from functioning. It’s slowly getting worse. I’m unsure of what to say to my doctor for best possible treatment results. Thanks.

Marijuana…
No, you’ll probably get a mild daily maintenance anti-depression/anti-anxiety drug like Lexapro or Celexa, which are 2nd generation Prozacs.
Don’t get meds from a general doctor. Go to a specialist, a psychiatrist. GO to a terapist. Both togthor are proven to be the best form of treatment for Anxiety.

Try exercise or meditation before you look for a chemical solution.
If you are a younger female than no they will not give you diazepam because it can makes younger people have suicidal thoughts!
There are short acting meds like Klonopin, Xanax, and Ativan (I don’t see diazepam (Valium) used that much anymore. There are also long acting meds such as Buspar that could help.
Start drinking Chamomile Tea 4 or 5 cups a day. your anxiety will go away. and it also helps Irritable;e bowel syndrome too. GREATLY. you’ll see a fantastic recovery within a week of drinking Chamomile tea
I suffer from anxiety as well. It is more common than you think. Just let your doc know what you have been experiencing and tell him you need something to help. My doc was very sympathetic towards me and perscribed me Adavan.
if i were u i will go to a christian counselor for encouragement/enlightment. but before u do that get a bible and read. and see what the holy spirit will tell u. keep reading same as i am bec it is exciting, interesting and enriching.
I also suffer from anxiety…tell your doc that you have a racing heart… constant worrying… just anxiety in general- tell him it sometimes STOPS you from doing normal every day things.. he will probably prescribe you something like xanax, adivan, or valium… those are only supposed to be taken when you feel like you are going to have an anxiety attack… but be careful- they are very addicting!
Say exactly what you say here. Don’t over think it or worry about how or what to say to him/her. Just tell him/her about the anxiety lasting for 15-90 minutes and say it stops you from functioning. Your doctor has many medications to give you that can work extremely well without too many side effects (and if you do experience side effects, the doctor can change the meds out until you find one that works best) and this can relieve your problems.
Just tell the doctor what you feel and when and that you are unsure of what to tell him/her. The doctor should be able to ask you the right questions to help him/her help you. Please don’t hide or skip over anything as everything will be important and the doctor needs to know in order to evaluate what is best for you. He/she is there to help you. If you are not getting results from your regular doctor, call a psychiatrist who specializes in prescribing medicines for mental/emotional health. Good luck.
I take Vistaril for my anxiety and it works just as well as diazepam (Valium) and it is non addictive like Valium. I have been on it for 4 yrs now. It gets rid of the anxiety without the high feeling you get from the drug you speak of.
I wish you all the best! Anxiety is horrible and I hate your going through it! Go see your doctor asap.
Hugs,
Lesli
Dont go for meds…
Take vit. B
Stop eating chocolate and stop drinking soda/coffee
And also start doing an exercise regime.
trust me these things help you not only feel less anxious, but also good about yourself and honestly help more than any meds could!
I have tried meds but they didnt do crap for me..this stuff did though.. Also try going to a therepist every couple of weeks to learn how to cope.
Also try breathing with your diaphram when you start feeling really axious as it helps relax you!
Take it from some one who has been dealing with high anxiety and panic disorder for six years!
Hey there! I take an all natural stress and anxiety reliever called Relevax. It really helps calm me when I get hit by a stressful period. It’s made of herbs so theres no risk of addiction. http://www.relevax.com Good luck and all the best!
Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” – it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….
